The installation itself usually takes a few working days for a normal back yard. The waiting is in the steps before: the estimate, the city permit, any association or historic review, the Mississippi 811 notice and an open slot on the schedule.
What happens, in order
- Free visit, measurements and a written quote.
- City permit, plus association or historic approval where it applies.
- Mississippi 811 locate request, at least three working days before we dig.
- Posts are set in concrete and left to cure before anything hangs on them.
- Rails and pickets or panels go on, then gates. We clean up and walk the fence with you.
What slows a fence job down in Jackson?
- Rain. Holes in clay fill with water and the soil cannot be worked.
- Spring, which brings both the most new orders and the most storm repairs.
- Permit and association reviews that take their own time.
- The week or two after a tornado or a large wind storm.
- Tree roots, buried concrete and fence rows grown over with vines.
- Custom gates, operators and colors that have to be ordered.
We are getting a dog in three weeks and have no fence. What is fastest?
Call now. The permit and the three-working-day 811 notice take a bite out of three weeks before a single hole is dug. Chain link and standard treated pine privacy fence are the quickest to get and to build. If time runs short, ask us to fence a smaller run for the dog first and complete the yard afterward.
We are putting in a pool. Fence before or after?
Plan both at once and build the fence in two stages. The excavator needs a way in, so we leave that side open until the heavy work is done. The barrier then has to be complete and inspected before the pool is approved for use.
My association says fix the fallen panels by Monday and my contractor keeps delaying. Can a handyman patch it?
That is your choice to make on your own fence, and a temporary handyman patch will usually satisfy an association deadline. Read your contract before you do it, then tell the contractor in writing what was done. That keeps the patch from becoming a reason to argue about the finished job.
We cannot price a fence without seeing the yard, and the visit is free. Call (601) 476-1207 or text a photo of the fence line to the same number.
